Friendly staff and good facility. Close to the center of Matala and easy to walk to. Great if you want to see near Matala but not too close to the center. Quite area
The Coral Hotel features comfortable rooms with private balconies. This family-run hotel is in the quiet town of Matala. It is 550 yards from the center of town and 660 yards from the beach.

The Coral was the best and most atmospheric hotel we stayed in in Greece. It is ideally l;ocated, spotlessly clean, spacious and the owner and staff are very helpful and friendly.

Such a beautiful little seaside village that comes to life at night. Could have stayed longer and enjoyed the views, vibes and people. Also we found the pricing cheaper for food and drinks. I must stop

The room was clean and relatively new looking.
The room was clean and relatively new looking. There is no wifi or tv in room. They have wifi at the bar and should be able to get it to rooms with routers but have not bothered. The bed was a disaster, it was hardest bed I have ever tried to sleep on. My wife and I both hardly slept and had sore back in the morning. We have been travelling for over 5 weeks had no problem with any other beds.

There is a great vibe at Matala that differs from the rest of Creta. The hippie feel is true. We caught live music the night we were there and it was the best moment.
This along with the red beach - strongly recommend.

Matala is a tourist hot spot.
Matala is a tourist hot spot. So a lot of restaurants there, lot of tourist shops with souvenirs and a lot of people. The beach itself is not that big, but it was nice though. I mean it really depends on what you are looking for. I am more fond of less crowded and less touristy places, so perhaps next time I would look for something more matching my preferences. On the other hand there is nothing wrong about Matala at all. All the people there are very friendly. Really it depends on what you prefer...

Matala is a quiet little town with not a lot of traffic, music or noise. You come here to relax. If you like naturist beaching this place is definitely for you (Red beach and Komos beach).
Moreover, Matala can be a good base for visiting the area (you have to rent a car or a bike).

Beautiful little hippie Place with lots of Restaurants, Bars and Cafés.
The beach in matala, the red beach and the caves of matala are a must see. When you are in matala I would recommend the Restaurants Georges Yard, Plaka and Hakuna matata.
We adored the fact that we could get up and literally walk to the stunning Matala beach and at the same time enjoy our privacy in the cosy Cactus Room with the cute and aesthetically delightful terrace of our own! We could literally walk to the restaurants and bars within minutes. Most of all we adored the room owner and we are beyond grateful for the hospitality and friendship! Thank you so much for the pleasant stay!
Very good breakfast. Welcoming host Yannis. Very good location. Red beach and Kommos beach not far. On a lazy day local beach is only 5 minutes walk away which is full of different bars, restaurants, tavernas. Even on a lazier day hotel is equipped with swimming pool which is a lovely place to relax. Very good quality free wifi compared to the places we stayed in the past. Overall, excellent value for money.
Amazing welcome by our host which let us feel so much welcome. Perfect facility with all what you need for a holidays, even possibility to make a little laundry of your beach clothes after day on beach. Walking distance to Matala city center and beach. Restaurants and bakery few minutes walk from the Garden rooms. This is one of my favorite places in Crete thank you Vaso !
I really loved this hostel. It has a good wibe to it, location is perfect not to far from the beach and cafes/restaurants in Matala. Very friendly volunteers. Big and well equipped kitchen, nice and social common areas with a bar. Big bonus with the pool outside. I had a wonderful time, and ended up extending my stay every morning for a week.
Everything needed in one spot. Comfortable bed, coffee maker, washing machine, internet, private bathroom and the balcony. Located in the quieter area of Matala. Truly a wonderfull stay and only a 5 minute walk from the center / beach
Easy self check in as well.
And they dont cheap out on the pillows either!
Good location close to the beach (just a short walk) and the heart of surprisingly fine Matala. Parking organized just a few steps away on public parking (but with the free ticket from the hotel). The hotel has that bit of a hippie vibe going on - just like the whole city itself.
Cozy family run Hotel in a quiet place close to Matala centre but far enough from city noises and crowd (you can go on foot to Matala centre, restaurants, stores and beach). Cornelia and Michael are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is also good.
1. Location
Just a few minutes' walk from the fantastic Matala beach.
2. Host
Very kind and proficient host with gentle manners.
3. Room
separate kitchen, balcony with small table and chairs, room with comfortable beds
The staff was really helpful! The appartment is not in the main road so is kinda quiet but you are very near to the beach, stores and taverns because Matala are so small. We have a really nice yart to sit, relax and smoke.
Nice hotel, large family room that had plenty of room for our family of 4. Nice pool and good breakfast included. Lots of parking. Not far from Matala Beach, about 15 minutes to walk down. Staff were very pleasant.

There is nothing that can compare to the view and the proximity to the beach, including the path to the beautiful Red Beach! Eva, the manager, was responsive, helpful, and bun!
Great location, 5 min walk to the beach and village. The room was comfortable, clean and bathroom was roomy. The staff is very helpful. Good breakfast.
